Brecknock PTO's Events
Below you'll find descriptions of the events the PTO runs, in the month they usually occur. We're always looking for new activities and events we can offer our students and their families, so keep an eye on flyers and media posts to stay up-to-date!
Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and appetites to this evening of fun under the stars! We start out with all kinds of tasty treats for sale and then show a family-friendly movie at dusk. This event is usually at the beginning of the year, so keep your eyes peeled for info!
Fall Family Fun Night
For the past three years we've held our fall event at Brecknock Orchard and it has been wonderful! There is so much to do: Wagon ride, pumpkin and apple picking, caramel apple dipping, a hay maze, and much more!
While this is not an event for students and families to attend, it is something the PTO provides and counts on your generosity for. We provide an all-day dinner for the teachers during Parent-Teacher conferences, our way of saying "thank you" for all they do for our students and us. We'll need many donations of food items for those days and your contributions are greatly appreciated!
This is a special school-time event for students to buy gifts for their loved ones, and we always need help running it.
All you need for this event is a drink carton glued to a paper plate and a decorating item, like M&Ms, gumdrops or cereal, to share. We provide the graham crackers and frosting for your family to create their masterpiece houses!
Current Volunteer Opportunities
During January we have a special reading challenge set up for our students.
Have an idea for a family night we could host? Let us know!
This is one of our most popular family events of the whole year! Dance with the DJ in the gym, enjoy snacks and drinks for sale in the cafeteria, get your picture taken at the photo booth and try to win one of the loaded raffle baskets. It's an evening for the whole family to have a blast!
Family Swim Night
We reserve the pool at GMIS for an evening and enjoy a winter swim. Please note that, like all our events, this is not "drop-off" and we need adults to remain in the pool area with their children, even if they're able swimmers.
Taking place on the same nights as Open House, this 2 day event offers you and your children the chance to browse and buy Scholastic books at great prices. The best part? The dollars you spend there help support the school by earning Scholastic dollars, which allow us to purchase books for the classrooms!
Sprint to Spring
The culmination of weeks of donations, this is the day the students get to run around the school and engage in other fun activities to support the school through this wildly successful fundraiser. While this day is a "closed" event, we always need volunteers with clearances to help direct the students, as well as plenty of support leading up to this fun day!
